Celebrating an Extraordinary Achievement

St Mary's College for the Deaf is delighted to congratulate former student Phillipa Sandholm, who attended St Mary's from 1974 to 1983, on receiving the First Class Medal with Gold Cross of the Order of the White Rose of Finland, one of Finland's most prestigious honours.

Presented by the President of Finland, Mr Alexander Stubb, and Mrs Suzanne Innes-Stubb on Mother's Day, this distinguished award recognises mothers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to raising children and promoting family life within society. Recipients are also acknowledged for their contributions to their communities through educational, volunteer, and support roles that positively impact the lives of children and young people.

Phillipa's remarkable achievement is a testament to her commitment, compassion, and service to others. Her recognition on an international stage is an inspiration to our school community and reflects the values of leadership, perseverance, and care that we strive to nurture in all our students.

As a proud member of the St Mary's community from 1974 to 1983, Phillipa's accomplishments remind us of the lasting impact our alumni continue to make both locally and around the world.
